The Joint Lecture Building (GKB) occupies an area of Malang State University which covers an area of approximately 39,640 m2.
The joint lecture building consists of two buildings of the same / typical shape, with each building 9 floors.
The total floor area for the two buildings is 44,917 m2.
The design of the DED for the use of the building is as follows:
- Floors 1 and 2 are used for car parking areas, laboratories, lecturer rooms, and lecture halls.
- Floor 3-7 is used for classrooms, seminar rooms, reading rooms, lecturer rooms, libraries, and common space areas.
- Floors 8 and 9 are used for an auditorium / multipurpose room that can accommodate about 500 participants, a seminar room that can accommodate about 100 participants, a testing center, and a language laboratory.
The contract for the construction of the Joint College Building was signed on August 23, 2018 with an implementation period of 660 calendar days, so that in June 2020 based on the contract, it must have been completed.
The maintenance period of the building after it has been handed over is 12 months / 1 year, so that if there is damage agreed in the contract, then everything is still borne by the contractor / contractor.
The construction of the GKB is now entering week 51 with 54% progress.
All of the funds for the construction of the Joint Lecture Building came from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
While funding sources for supporting buildings / infrastructure buildings come from GOI and PNBP.
The infrastructure building in question consists of: GKB neighborhood road, pedestrian, parking of two-wheeled vehicles, parking of four-wheeled vehicles, parks, amphitheater, power house buildings, rain waterways, and river plains.
The Soft Opening of the Joint Lecture Building was attended and inaugurated by the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Minister of Research and Higher Education), Mr. Prof. H. Mohamad Nasir, Ph.D., Ak.
The GKB Soft Opening was held on the first and second floors of GKB at Malang State University and began at 7:00 am on Wednesday, September 3, 2019. The event began with singing Indonesia Raya and Prayer, followed by a welcome dance, greeting from the Rector, progress report from the GKB construction, a speech from the Minister of Research and Higher Education, and culminated in the beating of Gong and the signing of the inscription. The event ended with a visit from the Minister of Research and Higher Education accompanied by members of the UM Rapim, Rapimda, and VVIP invitation groups to the first and second floors of the GKB to see first hand the GKB construction process before finally the Minister of Research and Higher Education left the GKB and proceeded to his next event .
In his remarks, the Minister of Research and Higher Education invited Malang State University to not only use the IsDB (Islamic Development Bank) 4-in-1 project at UM to contribute to the Indonesian state but also in the international arena. The Center for Science and Technology Disruptive Learning Innovation from UM is expected to not only be able to make national innovations and contributions but also be able to compete and contribute as a Global University in the international world.
